This afternoon, Year 5 visited Lord Lawson to take part in a science lesson. It was very exciting seeing the secondary school and all of the equipment the children get to use in their lessons. The children learned how to use a microscope to examine the cells in an onion. They had to carefully place the onion skin on a slide and then use iodine to ensure the cells could be seen under the microscope. It was fascinating to see what they looked like close up! They also got to examine other cell specimens using the microscope.Ā
