All maintained schools must have a Governing Body by law. The governing body’s role is to act as a ‘critical friend’ to the school. The Governing Body has no specialists as such but do bring with them their own skills and all members are selected from the teaching staff of the school, the local authority and the local community, including parents.
Article 3: The best interests of children must be the primary concern in making decisions that may affect them. All adults should do what is best for children. When adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children.
Contacting the School Governors
If you would like to speak with a school governor please telephone 0191 410 2551 and you will be connected to the school office. Here you can leave a contact number for the relevant governor to get in touch. Alternatively you can send in a note with your child to hand to their teacher.
