Birtley East Community Primary School

After School Clubs and Wrap Around Care

Our Commitment to Enriching Education

At Birtley East, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom. To enhance and enrich every child’s experience, we offer a wide range of free after-school clubs designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. From sporting activities to science experiments, Forest School adventures to arts and crafts, and fun games, our clubs cater to a variety of interests—ensuring there’s something for everyone of every age.

We pride ourselves on providing a diverse selection of clubs to appeal to a wide audience, helping children discover new passions and develop valuable skills in a supportive environment.

In addition to our free enrichment opportunities, we also provide Wrap Around childcare for families. Our Breakfast Club and After School Club offer a safe, welcoming space for children outside of regular school hours. This is a paid provision, designed to give parents flexibility and peace of mind while ensuring children are cared for and engaged.

Breakfast Club

Our Breakfast Club provides a safe and welcoming start to the day for just £5 per child, per session, with payments accepted through Tax-Free Childcare credit. Children can be dropped off from 7:45am every morning, giving parents flexibility and peace of mind. A nutritious breakfast is served, offering toast with a variety of jams and spreads alongside a selection of cereals. After breakfast, children enjoy a range of engaging activities, including games and crafts, ensuring they begin the day happy, active, and ready to learn.

Wrap Around Care

Our After School Wrap Around Care runs daily from the end of the school day until 6:00pm, providing a safe and engaging environment for children from Early Years to Year 6 (please note, numbers for Early Years may be limited due to staffing ratios). Families can choose between a full session or a half session, following an after-school club. During the session, children are offered hot and cold snacks along with a drink, and can enjoy a variety of activities including arts and crafts, games, films, and outdoor play. This flexible provision ensures children are happy, entertained, and cared for until home time. All payment information is available below, with payments accepted through Tax-Free Childcare credit:

  • Children can attend either the full session (at a charge of £10 per night) or a half session (attending after an after school club) for £5 per night.
  • Unless children are attending an after school club the full £10 charge will apply regardless of the time they are collected.
  • Children collected late (after 6pm) will incur a £10 late
    collection charge.
  • Children who are late being collected from school at either home time or after an after school club will be placed in the wrap around provision and this will incur a £5 charge for that night (or
a £10 charge if they attend the full session). There will be a grace period of 10 minutes before this is applied.
